Ibou Ba was born into a family of musicians in Dakar, Senegal. He grew up with traditional
Senegalese music and learned drumming (djembe, sabar) at the age of 10, perfecting
it over the years in Daradji Percussion, the classical school of drumming. At the age of 15
he was accepted into the Ensemble Ambassadeur de la Culture au Sénégal. This commitment
sealed his artistic career as a percussionist. He subsequently performed with
Ballet Afrique Noir, Ballet Daradji Dakar and Ouza Diallo, among others, as well as with
other musicians and ensembles. Ibou Ba now lives and works in Austria and Senegal. In Austria he took part in the workshops
of Ismael Ivo and Germaine Acogny as part of ImPulsTanz and in dance courses with the
Ballet Tilibo. He was hired by important musicians at their concerts in Austria such as Baba Maal,
Prince Zeka, Mamadou Diabate, Daradji Family, among others. Ibou Ba Daradji Percussion
performs with Harald Huber and Max Doblhoff, among others. In 2022, Ibou Ba released his
CD Mama Africa.
